It has become very easier for all of us to get connected & use internet facilities almost anywhere like at the school campus, library, cafeteria, airports, hotels, buses. What Does WiFi Stands For?

How Does It Work?

Whenever electric current is passed through an antenna, the electrons move in pattern while generating an electromagnetic wave. This microwave is transmitted through the antenna from this end & received from another antenna on the receivers end & excites the electron on that end. A similar electric current is generated over there but it is weaker than that at the transmission end. Now for transmitting information through these signals, the signals are variated & the information sent can be easily decoded at the receivers end.

WiFi uses a digital signal that includes a much more complex pattern of modulation including Amplitude modulation, Phase modulation & much more encodings to transmit data in the form of ones & zeros binary codes. Our routers are tiny computers which plug into the  internet & convert electrical signals into a digital signal that is transmitted through an antenna as a microwave radiation. Similarly, our computers also have an antenna to receive signals which are then decoded & transmitted to send back data to the router.

Future Of WiFi?

As per demands & popularity & even basic needs as said the earlier need for faster data transmission is increasing day by day. Evolution in terms of technology is already on its way & modification in the tech to avail maximum benefits has already funded a way out. Early WiFi used 2.4GHz microwave frequency to transmit data which is lower than the current frequency of 5 GHz.

Different standards of WiFi transmit different data frequencies like The 802.11a will transmit data at a frequency of 5 GHz while, the 802.11b will do the transmission at 2.4 GHz. The most advanced 802.11n can transmit a maximum of 140 megabits of data per second using a frequency of 5 GHz. In future technology called Passive WiFi could also reside where devices will require thousands of times the lesser electrical power to access the WiFi network.

What Is USB 3.0?: USB or Universal Serial Bus is most used connectivity port as many of our devices uses this extension to support devices like Hard Drives, Mice, Keyboard, Flash Drives and much other stuff. Devices either in future or in past mostly use USB to connect another device. So the major instalment in USB history is USB 3.0 or called as SuperSpeed USB (SS) as this port can transfer data up to 5 Gbit/s (625 MB/s), which means that this Gen Port if Ten Times faster than USB 2.0, This Type USB also have color coding Blue and initial as SS.

USB 3.0 was released in 2008 as the first product was shipped in 2009. USB 3.1 was released in July 2013, as it is the successor of USB 3.0 with faster data transfer rate up to 10 Gbps which means that it is twice as fast as USB 3.0. This amount of speed is enough for a device to give whole video rendering or sending the heavy amount of data within a second. As this much speed matches first Gen Thunderbolt Speed which is built by Apple and Intel as Joint Venture. USB 3.0 is available in ports like Standard A which is universal all over the world.

USB 3.0 With A SuperSpeed (SS):

USB 3.0 has electrically similar to PCI Express 2.0 or SATA which means the user can use a full graphics card or run heavy hard drive in the device. USB 3.0 has a similar concept of earlier USB’s and also have the same port extension which made it more assessable. USB 3.0 has also increased in Bandwidth which means that sharing data and recovering data have now become easier. Power delivery from USB 3.0 is also more so the user can now plug more powerful device.

Some design change in USB 3.0 in Type A ports have four pins for the USB 1.x/2.0 backward compatibility and the second row of five pins for the new USB 3.0 Connectivity. The plastic is in the USB 3.0 standard blue color known as Pantone 300C.

For Power consumption USB 3.0 provides power at 5 volts nominal. The available current for low power SS device is 150 mA, an increase from 100 mA in USB 2.0. While the final limit is 900 mA or 4.5 watts which are almost twice than USB 2.0.

Future of USB 3.0

After the release of USB 3.0 the world is after the next big speed USB and then in 2013 USB 3.1 Gen 1 which has almost 5 Gbit/s max speed and available in port option like Type C or Type A. As this port can able to touch it’s maximum speed of 5 Gbps.

After USB 3.1 Gen 1

After the release of USB 3.1 Gen 1, Gen 2 then released which made this USB to touch about 10 Gbps of Speed which is a max of this time. As double that of SuperSpeed USB, and reduces line encoding overhead to just 3% by changing the encoding scheme to 128b/132b. The first USB 3.1 implementation demonstrated real-world transfer speeds of 7.2 Gbit/s. USB 3.1 Gen 2 is captioned as SuperSpeed+.
