POCO X2

The most anticipated and overly hyped brand in the history of the Indian smartphone market i.e. POCO is all set to launch its second device on February 4th. The first device from POCO was named POCO F1 and it was an instant hit among the users and it surprised the whole smartphone industry with its premium features at a price almost half of the other devices with the same specification. The tagline of this smartphone was ‘Everything You Need And Nothing You Don’t’ and it falls true on every aspect. This device was launched back in August of 2018 and since then everyone was eagerly waiting for the next iteration supposed to be POCO F2.

Previously POCO was a subsidiary brand of Xiaomi but now the CEO of Xiaomi India Manu Kumar Jain has confirmed that POCO is now a separate legal entity and will become a separate brand in itself. So, the hype was again on the peak as everyone was again into trap of expectation of POCO F2 but almost every POCO Fan was let down as the brand confirmed that they will be launching a new device under the brand name of POCO but it will not be POCO F2 instead it will be named as POCO X2.

POCO X2
POCO X2 with 120Hz display

From all the leaks and official press releases and renders it can be easily confirmed that POCO X2 will be the rebranded version of Redmi K30 4G that was recently launched in China. In my personal opinion it was the most heartbreaking news for all the POCO fans as everyone was expecting something exceptional and out of the league specification and to be honest POCO X2 will not be following the league that was set by POCO F1 and it can’t even stand on there tagline of ‘Everything You Need And Nothing You Don’t’.

Here are some brief specification of POCO X2 or to be Redmi K30 4G

POCO X2 will have a display of 6.67 inches with a refresh rate of 120Hz and support of HDR 10 technology but the twist in the scheme is that the display is not an AMOLED display instead it is an IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a long pill-shaped punch hole on the top right corner of the screen that will be housing dual front camera setup with a primary lens of 20MP and a portrait lens of 2MP.

POCO X2 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G SoC that is a pretty solid performer when it comes to multitasking and gaming. The chipset is based on 8nm architecture with a powerful Adreno 618 GPU.

It will feature a quad-camera setup at the rear end where the primary camera will sport a 64MP primary shooter along with an 8MP ultra-wide lens coupled with two 2MP lenses where one of them will work as a depth sensor and the other will do the job of a dedicated macro lens that comes handy when you are supposed to take some close-up shots.

It will house a 4500mAh battery that can be easily juiced up with the help of a 27-Watt fast charger that will be included in the box. With the help of this charger, you will be able to charge your device from 0-100% in 70 minutes.

You will see a 3.5mm audio jack along with a Type-C port that will help you charge up your device. POCO X2 will support Wi-Fi Direct and will be working on Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band technology.

The device is expected to launch at a price of around $245 approx. or about Rs.18,000. This device is supposed to compete with realme X2 (realme XT 730G) that contains some similar specifications like quad rear camera setup Snapdragon 730G processor but it comes with an upper hand plus of having an AMOLED display instead of an IPS LCD display that can be found on POCO X2. You can have a look at the landing page of POCO X2 on Filpkart

Apple iPad Pro 5G Will Be High-End Model That Is Assume To Launch In This 2020

So far it is assumed that the Apple iPad Pro 5G will be high-end models that possibly costlier than other models. Already there are reports that suggest 5G iPhones will come in 2020 but there is no clarity about the 5G iPads. The 5G iPads may be featured with mmWave that will provide ultra-fast speed at short distances, that will be more suitable for dense urban areas. Sub-6GHz 5G is usually slower than mmWave but the advantage is that signals travel further, which is suitable for suburban and rural areas.

Upcoming Apple iPad Pro 5G Render

If we see the general trends then it’s like major new features first come in iPhones than later in iPads but there was the exception in that case and the third-gen iPad got LTE support in March 2012 and then it came in iPhone 5 in September 2012.

Further, there is not so much detail about the 5G iPad came into light and so yet we have to wait about the confirmation from the company itself over all the rumors related to 5G iPad production.

Windows 10X OS For Foldable Screen

As you all know that last year Windows 10X OS was launched from Microsoft. That was a very great effort in redesigning the operating system for devices that will showcase with dual screens and foldable designs and that was one of the reasons for the unveiling Surface Neo dual-screen device last year, alongside Windows 10X. Although few of such hardware we all might have already seen at this CES 2020 but the major missing in all of them is Windows 10X. Planning from the big brands as said by Microsoft is not showing up yet for bringing down products embedded with Windows 10X.

For instance, Lenovo just brought its Thinkpad X1 Fold this season, featuring a folding OLED screen, priced at $2,499, still, the missing thing is Windows 10X. The device comes with Windows 10 Pro with a promise of an upgrade to Windows 10X little later. So no one knows the actual scenario whether With Lenovo X1 Fold the brand is getting more aggressive on moving forward or Microsoft is bending too much on Windows 10X.

Windows 10X OS Will Be Great For Dual Screen Phone & Foldable Laptops

Microsoft has already worked on Windows 10X OS for many years while Intel and other companies were trying to give a push towards foldable and dual-screen hardware before Microsoft could figure out the things. The actual scenario looks like Windows 10 will take a few more months to be ready for the PC manufacturers to take advantage of it.

Windows 10X OS
Windows 10X OS For Foldable Screen

Lenovo, on the other hand, has built one of its own software for overlapping Windows 10 just to make it more friendly for different apps but actually Windows 10X is supposed to be coming with all that features. For devices like X1 Fold, Windows 10X is a key device as Microsoft is trying to build it in numerous variations to handle apps across multiple displays directly in the OS. Also, Dell introduced concept foldable and dual-screen laptops this season, Asus came up with smaller 14 inches dual-screen laptop. And all these devices are running the standard versions of Windows 10.

Samsung being another most popular brand seems to rush to the market with Foldable Android Device which needed to be re-engineered before it hit the stores. A pure and stunning alternative software is must be required in order to bring such foldable and dual-screen devices in the absence of Windows 10X to avoid market souring. Let’s see what 2020 will end with, as the year has just begun with another set of promises, hopefully, we may see Windows 10X OS coming up with some big brand’s Foldable and dual-screen devices this year.

Dell Duet & Dell Ori Concept: New Foldable Concept At CES 2020

Dell Concept Duet With All Modes
Dell Concept Duet With All Modes

Dell at CES 2020 showing its product of future rather than showing devices of the present, during their event at CES Dell has introduced a Foldable Notebook called as Dell Ori Concept and Dell Duet concept. Earlier at CES 2020, they have introduced XPS 13 15-inch, and they also introduced portable Gaming devices called as Alienware Concept UFO. Now Dell tries to enter the future of computing by the introduction of the Dell foldable notebook.

Last year Microsoft also launched its concept of the foldable notebook by the introduction Surface Neo which runs on Windows 10X which still now available as Microsoft is already building the software of devices. Dell somehow not able to get Windows 10X yet but this foldable device will need Windows 10X in the future.

Dell Duet & Dell Ori Concept: Future Of Notebooks

For demo purposes, Dell is still using Windows 10 OS rather than Windows 10X, but the purpose of the foldable notebook is really a future which is confirmed by Dell. The dual-screen will give more room for ideas and creativity to grow while there is an option for an external keyboard that attaches to the display of the device and work seamlessly. But these foldable devices are also good without any external keyboard support.

Dell is not new to coming to this market as earlier at CES 2020 Lenovo also launched their concept for a foldable device with introduction Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. It seems the trend for Dual Screen foldable concept and it may grow as the passage of time.

Dell Ori Concept: With 13″ QHD+ Resolution Display

Dell Concept Ori at CES 2020
Dell Concept Ori at CES 2020

Talking about the devices foldable Dell Ori Concept Ori or called as “Origami”. Because it folds. The device features two 13-inches QHD+ resolution Display which looks really immersive. Their no border on the screen so no more distraction and black bars which looks pretty much annoying. Other details of the devices like GPU, CPU are hidden under the lid as Concept Ori is still in its building phase, it might happen that Dell might move toward Intel their CPU’s as Microsoft did with their Surface Neo. The display looked good, although there was a visible crease on the screen, especially when it was partially folded.

Dell Duet: With 2 Display 13.4″ FHD Panel

Dell Concept Duet with Stylus
Dell Concept Duet with Stylus

Dell Duet concept is also a dual screen foldable notebook that looks much similar to Dell’s XPS 13 2-in-1 while you can rotate both displays as you want. The Dell Duet concept has two separate displays joined by a hinged design which helps the device to fold pretty easily.  Both screens on the Concept Duet are 13.4-inch FHD panels, which looked on par with any of Dell’s other displays.

Users can use two displays for their convenience as there is an option to use the display side by side for opening two apps on a different screen or can use like a clamshell as one screen use as a display while another one can be used for keyboard or other touch functionality purposes. Dell showed off an ebook with each panel displaying a single full page (just like a real book), while another had two documents side by side for planning a trip.

Otherwise while using these devices is pretty flawless, for typing users will get a soft keyboard while for pointer operation the user can use their finger as the device is touch-capable. Dell also provides an option to have an external keyboard that transforms one screen as a base while other screen works like a similar display, the user can move the keyboard upside to view the trackpad.

While making these laptops Dell also made some sacrifices with their actual weight of the device as two displays made the device a little bit heavier than a regular laptop but give extra functionality of extra screen space. The extra screen also made the device more fragile as normal clamshell notebook have metal or at-least plastic body while moving the body to all screen add a little bit of frailness to the device.

One of the major concerns of the device is its operating system for Dell Duet and Dell Ori concept as it has needed a new operating system so that the user can take full benefit of the device. Microsoft is still building their Windows 10X software and it is not ready yet, Microsoft is also hoping to join more developer to their ecosystem so more and more apps can be built.

Dell isn’t sure about the release date of Dell Ori Concept and Dell Duet concept but hopes to be released somewhere around holiday season of 2020. By looking at these devices it might be more interesting to see what more the future will uphold for future of notebooks.

Concept UFO Looks Like Nintendo Packed With Windows 10 OS

During CES, Dell and Alienware have demonstrated their next-generation portable gaming machine which is called Concept UFO. The device pretty much looks like Nintendo Switch packed with Windows 10 OS, as the introduction of Windows 10 OS allows the user to play any PC game they want in this smaller device.

Talking about the form factors Dell tries to make the size as minimal as possible as it features 8” screen, which made form factor as Nintendo Switch, while it also has a kickstand on the back to hold the device still on the desk. The joystick on the sides is detachable same as JoyCons and Dell also give the option for docking the Joystick into a gaming pad for a more natural way of playing.

The weight of the device is also bearable for hours of playing without any stress on hands. As for the design Dell Alienware UFO Concepthandheld, it’s all-white with black buttons and illuminated thumbsticks which make playing more easier in dark surrounding situations. Users can also attach the Alienware UFO concept to an external monitor so the player can enjoy the more immersive experience.

One of the major disadvantages of the device is the heating issue as it seems to have blowing fans which fire up at full pace when you start playing any small GPU intensive game. This makes lots of noise if you playing in a silent room.

Dell Concept UFO Back Side
Dell Concept UFO Back Side

Display of Dell Alienware UFO Concept is being manufactured by an external partner and not by Dell themselves as there is not the major specification of the display is yet released and what panel are they actually using.

Some of the cumbersome problems of the device include noisy fans, Smaller Windows 10 OS, battery life, GPU power, and Price. While some of the features of the device are still not be revealed because it is still Concept devices and there is the road ahead for Dell and Alienware to bring to the actual world. Overall it’s an interesting concept which, if nothing else, will pique the interest of gamers while showing off Alienware’s research and design team as it looks to continue to be at the forefront of PC gaming.
