WWDC 2020

As the Novel Corona Virus (COVID 19) epidemic continues so does the event cancellation or postponing streak as well. This China originated virus has struck the world not only on the physical front but on economy and technology front as well. Huge number of initial deaths caused by this virus has struck the world like a lighting bolt and broke the backbone of economy.

Fear of this virus has whipped the charm of festivals and doomed the lives of normal peoples. COVID 19 has also created some streaks not only on the physical front but on the technical front as well, it took lots of lives and caused cancellation of various events throughout the globe and the streak was started from cancellation of ‘Mobile World Congress’.

Mobile World Congress or MWC is an event that sets stage for various brands and OEM’s to showcase their latest concept devices or technology. Every tech nerd waits for this event to get his hands on the latest and the greatest tech. A lot of heart shattered when the announcement of the cancellation went live. realme had planned to launch their first 5G device namely ‘realme X50 Pro 5G’ during MWC 2020 but due to cancellation of the event they had to relocate the launch to Madrid, Spain and New Delhi, India on a very short note. Other manufactures also faced similar problems.

After MWC cancellation, Facebook changed it’s annual developer conference schematics to ‘Online Only’ instead of in-person maneuver and the same trail was followed by Google regarding their annual developer conference i.e. ‘I/O 2020’.

Now the California based tech giant ‘Apple Inc.’ has also announced that they are maneuvering their annual developer conference ‘WWDC’ for 2020 to Online only. WWDC is the place where more than 6k nerds meets to witness new developments and features provided by Apple on their software front. WWDC also marks the unveiling of new iterations of iOS i.e. an operating system for Apple Devices and various other software-based pushes like iPad OS, Watch OS.

Press statement by Apple VP ‘Phil Schiller’ clears the waves around the rumor around cancellation of the event. It clearly states that Apple is not cancelling the event instead they are holding the event over various live streams and video conferencing. Usually the event was scheduled around first or second week of June but this time we have to wait for official revelation of dates.

WhatsApp’s Dark Mode Is Now Available For All Users, Enable Your’s Now!

Whatsapp dark mode

WhatsApp has officially confirmed that they have completed the roll-out of dark mode to every Whatsapp user. This was a long-awaited update. In this growing phase of smartphone addiction everyone wants to reduce strain on their eyes in every possible manner and to achieve this fate, no one is ready to reduce their smartphone usage instead they moving toward use of application based dark mode or OEM based forced dark mode.

A lot of smartphone users were using the dark mode on WhatsApp by making use of some tricks like using forced dark mode provided by OEM’s while others were busy hunting for some third-party applications to achieve this providence.

This feature was one of the most anticipated and sought-after features. Every WhatsApp user was inquisitive around the fact that WhatsApp was one of the late-comers in the list of apps facilitated with dark mode. The reason behind this delay is considered to be the outrageous battle between Facebook and other WhatsApp employees, as Facebook took over the major potion and acquired WhatsApp for a whooping $19 billion in summers of 2014 and from that moment itself there was a constant hustle between the founding employees and Facebook’s board of directors over various key points that also includes pushing of advertisements in user interface of the app. It is considered that founders of WhatsApp had to set down forcefully because of the similar close combat civil war situation and some concern over privacy and encryption type.

Dark mode was perceived a number of times in alpha built and some time in beta built as well but was not able to make it to mass consumers. Instead the fingerprint security feature was pushed to the user well before the dark mode update and to be honest this feature was not as relevant as dark mode for the users because anyone can put a fingerprint-based encryption over the app by making use of in-built security and app encryption capability. After this update a security breach was found that lead to data leak and thus WhatsApp had to delay this update. I am still not sure about functionality of this feature even though I am using this for month because you can register only one fingerprint for decryption that limits the convivence of alternate hand usage. For instance, if you have registered your right index finger for decryption and in some case your right index finger is not idle or maybe murky you would not be able to open your WhatsApp and I am quoting all this from personal opinion.

WhatsApp’s own dark mode is more like a grey mode for android users while it serves a z-black texture while using the same on iOS. Rollout of this update started more than a week ago around 4th of March and WhatsApp has officially confirmed that update has reached their complete user base.

How To Enable Dark Mode For Your WhatsApp?

  • Step 1: Obviously, Open WhatsApp
  • Step 2: Tap on the three dots aligned vertically, A drop down menu will appear
  • Step 3: Tap on Settings, Settings page will appear
  • Step 4: Tap on the chat option, This will open customization window for you WhatsApp chats
  • Step 5: Tap on the theme option, If you can’t see the theme option in this menu than you need to update you WhatsApp from Playstore if you are using an android device or from Apple store if you are using a iOS device
  • Step 6: By default the radio button will indicate Light mode and you have to tap on the dark option to enable dark mode on your device.

If you use a laptop or even a desktop computer, you must be well aware of the struggle that one has to go through when the need of navigation arrives while typing, you have to remove your hand from keyboard and place it on trackpad of your laptop or mice for navigating throughout the screen and sometimes this process may turnout to be frustrating while working on deadlines.

Apple thought of this problem a long ago and their chief engineer John Greer Elias filled a patent in 2008 i.e. 11 years ago stating design and technology approval for a capacitive touch sensitive mechanical keyboard with patent number: 10585493. This amazing piece of idea got its patent approval in 2020.

Teardown of current generation MacBook keyboards

The patent describes that in order to make your keyboard work as a trackpad one has to press some key combination to make you system aware of the fact that you want to use your keyboard as a standalone trackpad to navigate across your screen content. Other method of operation is that system itself senses your usability need by collecting data through your finger pressure and movement to change mode of operation. According to the patent document user can set their preference of changeability by configuring their machine.

Patent of touch sensitive mechanical keyboards

The patent was filled by John Greer Elias in December, 2008 and the matter of fact is that the same name can be found on some other Apple’s patent that didn’t make it to end users and the list includes Virtual Reality based gloves, Magnetic sensors and Hover gesture based screens to be used in MacBook’s and other Apple’s product. Going by the track record of Apple in bring innovation to masses I don’t think that we could see this technology in action anytime soon. But I would love to use this technology as it will make navigating while typing a swift task rather than a hindrance.

iPhone 12 Promise to bring versatility

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 2020 will be named as iPhone 12 which is near about 9 months away from us and excitement among the leaker community is not getting stopped. iPhone 2020 will be a generation evolution of the iPhone as this smartphone will come with 5G configuration, and Apple introduced 4G in iPhone 4 which was released in 2011. From Apple’s side, there is too much to expect from iPhone 2020 as leaks are showing some remarkable breakthrough which Apple could implement in the iPhone 2020 while some of the expected changes might come in iPhone 2021.

We made this page for some of the expected changes that will be there in the iPhone 2020, we will include all these leaks, mentioned, mockups and other types of expectation from credible sources. iPhone 2020 Will Going To Have 5 Phones Model

It has been expected that Apple could launch 5 models of iPhone and one of them could be launch in Q1 of 2020, which is iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9. iPhone 9 will spec up version of iPhone 8, it will have the same form factor but will have some different internal specification. Apart from iPhone 9, Apple will launch 4 other versions of iPhone which includes iPhone 12 that is next iteration of iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Plus which is next to Apple lineup and include bigger screen size than iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro which is next iteration of iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max which is next iteration of iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Naming

The flagship version of the iPhone will possibly be called iPhone 12 if Apple will follow the naming scheme. Last year Apple introduced iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max which is the iteration of iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max respectively. So we could think about the similar naming scheme for iPhone 12 as iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max which will be an iteration of iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Size Options

It has been expecting iPhone could feature 4 new size options as confirmed from leaks. As iPhone 9 could have a 4.7-inch display, iPhone 2020 could have a 5.4-inch display, iPhone 12 Plus may have a 6.1-inch display, iPhone 12 Pro may feature 5.8-inch and iPhone 12 Pro Max may have 6.7-inch. This newest iteration to iPhone 12 Pro Max makes it the biggest iPhone display ever made.

Design

Apple will have frosted glass design on the backside of all these iPhones. The leak is suggesting that Apple could follow the design pattern of the iPhone 4 will square edges rather than curved ones this will allow easier to hold iPhone. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the new iPhone will use a more complex segmentation design, and new trenching and injection molding procedure.

Display

While some noticeable changes may happen in the display itself as 4 of these iPhone could feature OLED display while Pro model iPhone’s will have better Pro display which may include 120Hz ProMotion Display similar to recent generation iPad Pro’s display.

iPhone 2020 may adopt LTPO display the same as Apple Watch. LTPO or Low-Temperature polycrystalline oxide has an Oxide TFT structure that uses 15 percent less power, this technology made possible Apple Watches be always-on display, there are chances that Apple may introduce always one display in future iPhones.

A14 Chipset

A14 on iPhone 2020 may be made the device more powerful than before, Rumor suggests that TSMC will produce the world’s first 5nm mobile chipset which made the iPhone perform faster while consuming less battery. TSMC may start producing A14 Chipset in the second quarter of this year.

RAM on iPhone 2020 May around 6GB for Pro models and 4GB for the other two options. More RAM will make faster multitasking than ever and the user will enjoy the added feature of the iPhone like its powerful camera, FaceID and etc.

Cameras

This time Apple will surely introduce 3D Laser Camera on the rear side of the iPhone this will capture Time of Flight 3D images which will bring significant improvement to photography and Augmented Reality. The TOF sensor has a laser to calculate the distance from the reflected object, this helps the camera to accurately measure the distance and size of the Augmented objects.

Rumor is expecting that the TOF sensor could calculate around 15 feet which will be very amazing to see. As of now FaceID Sensor also uses the TOF sensor which could measure only about 15-20cm of distances.

Rumor suggests that high-end 6.7 and 6.1-inch iPhones will feature the triple-lens camera, while lower-end 5.4 and 6.1-inch iPhones can feature dual-lens cameras. Japanese site Mac Otakara also believes that the lower-end iPhone will feature a dual-camera and high-end features triple camera.

No Notch !! In iPhone 12

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that at least one iPhone in 2020 will feature a smaller notch and improved bezel to screen ratio, ultimately resulting in a smaller notch system.

Barclays analysts believe, the iPhone 2020 will feature a refreshed TrueDepth camera system, though there are no details from Barclays on what might be improved.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Debby Wu have previously reported about Apple are considering to release the iPhone with both FaceID and in-display fingerprint scanner in 2020. Apple is facing to put laser scanner rather than putting an optical sensor which can easily fool by mockups. But if the testing is successful by 2019 then Apple will put it on iPhone 2020 or they will push the timeline to next year to 2021.

TouchID Returns?

It is one of the most expected features of iPhone 2020, the company may re-introduce TouchID alongside with FaceID, this time the TouchID will be reengineered to embed the sensor in the screen rather than putting a separate button on the bottom of the screen

Barclays analysts suggested that the fingerprint could use the acoustic fingerprint sensor, and the Chinese site The Global Times has suggested Apple will release a notch-less phone with an under-display fingerprint sensor aimed for the Chinese market.

While in the case of inclusion of both fingerprint and FaceID in the same phone might be difficult as a report from Bloomberg the iPhone 2021 might include both of these features.

5G

5G will soon become a necessity for smartphones as a rapid expansion of 5G towers around the world, it has been expected that by the end of 2020 people will start getting decent coverage. Apple has to bring 5G smartphones by the end of 2020 to capture the market share of this growing technology.

Apple and Qualcomm have joined their hands to bring next Qualcomm cellular chipset into the next generations’ iPhones. Apple is looking highly committed to bringing its own cellular chipset market but it may require more time (around 2022) for Apple to fully develop 5G modems. Apple has bought the Intel 5G modem research division for $1 Billion to make in-house chipsets.

5G might have two different types of technology, one may be mmWave (faster and limited range) and sub 6GHz (slower but wider spread) and there could be some differences in which countries support which specifications. mmWave 5G technology will likely be limited to major cities and dense urban areas because of its short-range, while 5G networks in rural and suburban areas will use the slower sub-6GHz technology.

Qualcomm’s X55 chip offers 7Gb/s peek download speed and 3Gb/s upload speeds, though these numbers are theoretical somehow the modem will provide pretty decent speed in real-world scenarios.

Kuo believes iPhone models with mmWave and sub-6GHz support will be available in main markets like the U.S., UK, Australia, Canada, and Japan, while in some other countries, Apple may offer iPhones with just sub-6GHz connectivity. sub-6GHz could also be disabled in countries that do not offer 5G or have shallow 5G penetration.

Other Features

Recently, Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis told about some expected features of the upcoming iPhone. According to him the upcoming features of iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max may have 6 GB RAM. Apart from that, it is also expecting that both of the models of the iPhone may come with rear-facing 3D sensing and mmWave support that will be compatible with 5G. Apple could launch two sets of iPhone each of them will feature a different type of 5G band as one could feature a mmWave support while other will feature 600mHz which could help Apple to achieve the best speed both of these different technologies.

Release Date

Apple might bring a new iPhone in September 2020, in its yearly iPhone smartphone event. Alongside iPhone 2020 Apple might introduce new Apple Watch and other devices as well.

mAh Importance: What is mAh In Battery? How To Calculate mAh?

Now in the era of the smartphone, we use to hear mAh discussion of phones very often, what is mAh and What is mAh in battery means? Do I really need to ask this question, even to a kid? What is the basic work of a battery? How to calculate mah? Why do we need batteries for our day to day tasks? Lets deep dive into the above question and have a brief discussion about the battery and its related technicality. All these questions look irrelevant in this world and now we are in 2020, the year lead by technology and science. But yes, If we talk about the process, about how a battery works, What does mAh resembles for a battery and by what all materials it is made? That is going to be the most relevant question and a matter of study for most of us reading this article.

So with this article here we go for another knowledgeable and interesting article, back to basics about the most important (heart of all your multimedia devices) thing in the current world i.e Battery. Let us start from a too much sighted but less understood term i.e mAh.

Significance of mAh in our daily life

People using multimedia devices, Electronic gadgets, Wireless home appliances, Wireless Medical fitness equipment and anything that uses the battery to operate might have seen the term mAh some or other time, at least a couple of times. So, mAh might look weird but actually it is not, even after the capital “A” in the middle. “A” here denotes the Ampere i.e the unit of Electric charge and should be represented in capitals as per the International System of Units. So that was the reason behind the middle capital letter “A” in mAh.

What is mAh? What is mAh In Battery

Let’s discuss what is mAh in battery, the term mAh stands for “milliampere-hour“ and thus denoting the total electrical capacity of batteries, with mAh at the labeling area. Usually, for smaller batteries, the denotation is by mAh while for bigger batteries the capacity is denoted by “Ah” i.e Ampere hour. So mathematically, one Ah will be equivalent to 1000 mAh or if we say it reverses, one mAh is equivalent to 1/1000 of Ah. Some similar measuring units, for example, mAs (milliampere seconds) is measuring Units used for X-ray imaging, Radiation treatments, and Diagnostic Imaging. I hope the above discussion helps you to simply understand what is mah in battery.

mAh of Smartphone & How to Calculate mAh?

Let’s get involved into something very practical. Suppose you have a battery, for which the capacity is not known, how will you get to know the original capacity and how to calculate mAh? It’s quite simple, we just need to plug it into a 1000 mAh discharge of supply and calculate the time when it gets completely discharged. The basic formula for the calculation of mAh is done as below:

mAh= Amount of time battery lasts x Amperes of the Discharge current

Formula How To Calculate mAh

The above equation will help you on how to calculate mAh. So, If with respect to the above example, if you have got 1000 mAh battery and the total time it took for getting completely discharged is 1 hour, then the original capacity of the battery was 1000 mAh. If the same battery lasts for 2 hours, then its 2000 mAh battery. As we discussed around the theory on how to calculate mAh and what is mAh in battery mean, the calculation has become simpler, isn’t it?

Why non-removable batteries in action?

Yes, now you might be thinking to swap your poor or low capacity battery with a higher capacity for longer performance. So, here you need to know something before you do any experiment with your device’s power bank. Gone are the days of swapping batteries, now one has to live up with the original power backup that comes with the device from the manufacturer’s end. Devices had become slimmer with non-removable batteries making the way much easier to it.

The technical reason behind this is that the batteries used these days are three times denser with regards to the capacity of traditional Lithium-ion batteries and size has gone up to one-third of the Lithium-ion battery. Although the count for processor transistor has gone up by almost a factor of 1000 during the same time frame. Processing power for the devices is gone up for allowing the users to play their favorite games on VR, stick to full HD videos and much more. Even manufacturers these days seem to be struggling to be able to provide so much of battery power that can last at-least by a day.

Making slim design phones is another challenge while providing higher battery capacity. Everyone likes slim designed devices with more battery backup but the original scenario is unknown for a large group of customers. While designing a higher capacity battery, spacing is required for accommodating the battery expansion a little bit, as all the batteries get swelled up by some time. Now if the demand is for making the device slim, the size of the battery will have to be reduced, rest you can imagine.

The method companies are trying to cope-up with the things is to seal the batteries inside the device. This reduces the space occupied by the removable battery frame/protective case fitted with the device. So with technological balances, this has been the solution for the manufacturers so far. Let us see what will come up next for making the balance better or maybe it will get enhanced performance next time, anything is possible after all.

I hope, this article which states the detailed information about mAh, will be enough to give you some basic idea about the topic.
