Microsoft Surface has really taken Windows computing to another level by introduction of the first Surface which shows us the possibility of a tablet and laptop coexist with each other very well and after 5 major releases Microsoft Surface Pro is still the best windows device you can get. Microsoft also expands their ecosystem with new devices in a range which includes Surface Book, Surface Studio and Surface Hub. As these devices are capable of any kind of work from Artist to Architect, from Engineers to Creator and much more. 

Now Microsoft announces their new hardware event which will be going to held on October 2 in New York. This event is expected to release some hardware and refreshes from Microsoft. Microsoft held an event like this way back in 2015 after then they only announce the upgrades in their hardware while they won’t do any bigger event for Surface   Go.

So we are expecting to see some Surface devices showoff in this event probably includes new Hardware like Intel 8th Gen. processor and Ports Improvement like an introduction of Thunderbolt 3. So let see what devices and improvement we are going to see,

Surface Pro 6

Microsoft announces last Surface Pro update in May 2017, just after the release of Surface Laptop. As Surface Pro is a successor of Surface Pro 4 as Microsoft won’t follow the naming scheme as like previous devices and called the 5th Gen. of a surface device as Surface Pro. Surface Pro 6th Gen. may include latest Intel Processor Coffee Lake processor which might include 4 Core processor and up to 32GB of RAM support for Surface Pro. New Surface Pro may also include USB-C Thunderbolt 3 Port as most of Tablet Laptop Hybrid not include this port combination as it will make Surface Pro really a powerhouse. Microsoft may also add support for HDR or Wide Color Gamut for PixelSense Display as many industry laptops now supporting it.  

Surface Laptop 2

Surface Laptop was announced last year May 2017, as it was made to deliver the Surface Laptop experience more affordable range. But it somehow won’t able to make user hand as it is priced at $999 as Surface Pro starts from $999 for Core i5 Model as Surface Laptop was won’t able to match user compatibility much. But this time Microsoft will include new improvement to Surface Laptop 2 which will include New Intel’s Coffee Lake Processor RAM support for up to 32GB and Type C Thunderbolt 3 Port.

Surface Go LTE

Surface Go is the latest lineup in Surface line as it was announced early this year, so don’t expect to have many upgrades but Surface Go will include LTE model which will cost $100 extra to get a Cellular model and this change will truly welcome by a user.

Surface Studio 2

Microsoft also in a better position to release their second-generation Surface Studio, as they are working on this very hard and codenames as “Capitola,” which will include updated internals. Might include all Type C Thunderbolt 3 Ports with some USB 3.0 Support which is really nice to have. While Microsoft also tries to include Nvidia Graphics in this device may include Nvidia latest RTX graphics. Display of Surface Studio may include HDR or Wider color Gamut support.

Surface Studio may able to ready for this event but we will like to see this device in action.

Surface Studio Pro 

Microsoft may push their hardware to workstation level and introduce Studio Pro which will include Intel Xeon Processor as this device will only make for Pro user and help a user to get Workstation performance as a uniform package with Windows support. Possibly they will include Nvidia Quadro GPU or may go for AMD’s RX GPU’s. Hope to see this device in action from Microsoft this time.

Smart speaker and headset

A smart speaker is now becoming user major market for companies as many reputed brands already grabbing this market and we hope to see Microsoft will soon grab this market. Microsoft already has Cortana which already a good assistant and have many good features than other’s but Cortana integration in Home will change Windows experience to another level. So hope to see this device this time. 

Microsoft also on the new headset which will be integrated for smart work and work seamlessly with Windows devices.

Surface Book 3

We don’t expect much in this topic as Surface Book 2 just not even a year old yet so making another release won’t help Microsoft to grab many markets but if it will be upgraded may include larger battery life, better display, and upgraded GPU.

Andromeda

Microsoft’s most highly anticipated Andromeda device won’t able to make this event as it has been already delayed and may able to make it next year. But we’ll surely like to see Andromeda in action or at least have some sneak peak about it as how it gonna be and what it will able to do.

So these are the products which we are expecting to release in this Microsoft event while there is something more may Microsoft able to us apart from a traditional upgrade.

The fight between is Apple and Qualcomm not seen to getting over as they both companies kept toe to toe against each other since last 3 year. As both companies have to settle their issues outside court as their not much to gives companies justice. 

As Qualcomm had Apple supplier for Modem which used in iPhone 7 and previous iPhone’s but in iPhone 8 and iPhone X Apple abandoned Qualcomm and make Intel their prime component suppliers. As Apple has to face some setback because some times Intel chip won’t work according to user need while Speed of Intel model are bit slower as compared with Qualcomm modems as Apple has to put lowered speed modem in iPhone 8 which highly criticized by Apple user as they won’t able to 1gigabit speed on their smartphone while other 2017 flagship already include it.

While this year Apple has gained some upgrades in their iPhone XS, XS Max and XR model as all these device include Intel Modems and Gigabit ready modems. But some Apple user are facing some issues with their speed while using mobile data.

Qualcomm has exploded toward Apple as they put allegation to share trade secrets to Intel for improving their modems according to a court filings. Qualcomm hopes the court will amend allegations in its existing lawsuit against Apple accusing it of breaching the so called master software agreement that Apple signed when it became a customer of Qualcomm’s earlier this decade.

The filing, made overnight in Superior Court in San Diego, as this new filing seems to put pressure on Apple to settle previous case about paying Qualcomm royalties from Apple, for their modem for each iPhone sales. But Qualcomm’s general counsel, Donald Rosenberg, told CNBC the case stands on its own and would have been filed regardless of the on-going dispute. “Unlawful use of Qualcomm’s valuable trade secrets to try to help a competitor catch up irreparably harms us and must not be allowed to continue,” he said.

Qualcomm also alleges the source code and tools were stolen for the express purpose of helping Intel overcome engineering flaws in its chips that led to their poor performance in iPhones.

While due to this allegation Qualcomm does not provide any direct evidence to support the allegations but does make reference to back and forth between Apple and Intel engineers that was found during discovery. According to sources the evidences includes not just email correspondence, but Apple’s source code development history and the code used in Intel-based phones.

Apple hasn’t responded on this allegation while Intel also won’t make any comment due to this issues.

Apple newest iPhone’s is covering all around the internet people are testing its rigidity, its performance, and internals. While newest iPhone is the costliest smartphone which costs around $1500 for iPhone XS Max 512GB model. While the cost of making iPhone is much as compared with manufacturing costs but Apple has to keep some margin to earn for their future developments and advertising iPhone all around the world. 

A recent article shared by TechInsights cost for making iPhone XS Max 256 GB model is around $443. While manufacturing cost for iPhone 64GB model is $50 less expensive around $395.44.

During teardown of iPhone XS Max TechInsights suggest the most expensive components in the is a display of iPhone which costs $80.50, while the second most expensive part is Apple A12 Bionic chipset which costs $72.

Storage of iPhone is priced at $64 which is a third most expensive component, while other expensive parts include $44 and the housing and mechanical components at $55.

The iPhone XS Max hosing, display, battery, and memory are most expensive part of iPhone which is more expensive last’s year iPhone X this all due because of larger iPhone size 6.5-inch. 

According to TechInsights, Apple cut down some cost in the display of iPhone XS Max removing some 3D components which were previously included in iPhone X. This may happen because Apple has got new ways to adapt 3D Touch technology without using those components as removing some components won’t affect 3D Touch performance of iPhone anyhow. 

Apple is charging $100 more for iPhone XS Max as compared to iPhone X which was priced at $999. 

While the raw cost of components won’t tell us the whole story of iPhone as Apple have other expenses like research for future iPhone, shipping cost when selling iPhone all around the world, software creation, advertising and much more.

TechInsights itself warns that its cost estimates are compiled using the information available at the time of the initial teardown, with “some assumptions” made where concrete data is not yet available. The company plans to continue to refine its estimate over time. 

Talking about last year iPhone X which was estimated at $357.50 while the number no grow around $40 more for larger iPhone. 

While these are the estimated cost for iPhone XS Max and we don’t have an accurate cost of the parts and Apple’s supplier pricing list as how much money Apple invested to purchase these products. 

Newest iPhone’s are finally here and this time it’s getting bigger and called as iPhone XS Max. As naming of this year iPhone is not better as it looks Apple trying to coping other brands naming scheme. Newest iPhone gets increase battery life and also claimed that iPhone XS will give 30min more than iPhone X while iPhone XS Max will give around 90min more than iPhone X but all these claims looking fading as new battery test from Tom’s Guide showing detailed look at the battery performance of new iPhones.

Apple achieves all these power and efficiency with the new A12 Bionic chipset which is the first industry 7nm processor which available to the consumer. But according to Tom’s Guide, however actual battery life is quite different. During its test, the iPhone XS and XS Max were set 150 nits of screen brightness, with auto brightness and True Tone tuned off. The devices are then put through a continuous web surfing test.

According to the test iPhone XS was able to last 9hours and 41 minutes during the test, whereas the iPhone XS Max lasted 10 hours and 38 minutes. This compares to the iPhone X, which lasted 10 hours and 49 minutes. As this test showed us all Apple claims comes to vain as iPhone XS won’t able to beat iPhone X during the test.

While talking about XS Max which is big only because of its gigantic display and battery life but it also fails to does so. While talking about competitors Huawei P20 Pro is the leader in the test for more than 14 hours. 

Apple has to take these issue seriously and bring some minor update to fix this issue as soon as possible. While talking about real-world usage iPhone XS and XS Max only able to handle a day of mild usage while in using iPhone for mediocre usage like playing light games, streaming music and watching videos won’t able to last a whole day. Apple should try to make the iPhone battery a little bit larger than previous iPhone. 

Apple event hangover is finally getting over as Apple newest iPhone has arrived in consumers hands and people start loving it. But one of the most demanding and cheaper iPhone in terms of Apple is still struggling in its manufacturing phase. 

As nowadays it has been quite always, Apple shows their products before producing for masses which create mess among public and Apple, as they failed to deliver the product on time as we have seen in past years with Apple Airpods, iMac Pro and AirPower which haven’t quite made out of a concept. 

iPhone XR once again hit a hurdle during its production plans as their one suppliers ran into manufacturing issues with the new phone, due to go on sale on October 26. Apple generally uses Foxconn for the bulk of its flagship iPhone assembly, with Pegatron used more for secondary models. The company is said to have originally planned to have originally planned to have Pegatron produce 50-60% of iPhone XR units so that Foxconn could focus on the iPhone XS and XS Max production.

DigiTimes cites an Economic Daily news report stating that Apple has now had to change these plans as Pegatron Struggled to hit production targets.

Apple has recently lowered the portion of the iPhone XR orders dedicated to Pegatron to below 30% while ramping up those to Foxconn substantially, said the report, which added that Pegatron’s production has been affected by a lower-than-expected yield rate and shortages of workers at its plants in China.

This all things were caused due to the technical difficult manufactures face during the production of XR over a premium model. As XR has an edge to edge display with LCD which is really a technical stuff, as this also hurdles Japan Display whose making XR display also facing difficulty to maintain a steady supply of the screens.

As iPhone XR has become more sweet spot in mind of a user as it shares many common features with its premium counterparts with $250 less. While XS user are shifting their mind toward XS Max as it has a bigger display and More battery life. As there is yet no confirmation about a delay in the release of iPhone XR as it will still make its way to a user on 26th October.
