For Apple, 2019 year is not so amazing in terms of Hardware as we have seen iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch Series 5 or AirPods 2nd Generation but all these devices are the iterations of their product line, Apple just updated the specs or changes some internal thing, but all these products do not add any new things to Apple portfolio. But this scenario may change in 2020 as Apple is set to introduce major new augmented reality initiatives next year with new 3D rear sensors and them also likely to introduce a very new category of device a long-rumored AR headset product.
Apple has started to pioneering AR from very starting as VR still not able to take off in terms of the smartphone, this year we haven’t seen any device which works on device VR even Google also not introduce any VR headset this year. During the WWDC event, Apple has updated its AR software to AR 3 and this time developers can really track AR into the real environments, shadows now also react with AR images and much more update which really made AR an alternative to VR.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has “Targeted” to launch the headset in 2020, featuring holographic displays in the lenses. The exact form factor and use cases for the headset is still unclear. According to a leak from Apple renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he said that Apple would release an AR headset in mid-2020 with a “third-party brand collaboration”.
Apple is going to revolutionize the year 2020 in terms of technology as the company is all ready to set up releasing an iPhone with the new design which eliminates notch, brings 5G networking and new time-of-flight 3D sensors for the rear camera that will help with augmented reality applications.
The AR glasses from Apple will be the “One more thing” from Apple as this glass may change the future of wearable technology. AR devices are not new to the market because we have seen a very good example of devices from Microsoft Holo Lens, but these devices have limitations as we can’t carry these devices and move around as they are building for a specific purpose.
Bloomberg describes the headset as glasses “to display things such as texts, emails, maps and games over the user’s field of vision.” However, the publication says that the release schedule for Apple’s AR hardware may get further delayed as if executives decide it is not yet ready for prime time.
Bloomberg further added that Apple will be trying to bring ARM-based Macs in 2020, as now Mac perform all some basic function with ARM chipset like sounds, security unlocks or drives encryption. The use of ARM will significantly increase MacBook’s battery and it will break its All-day mark and may give around 24 hours of battery life. Apple may also bring 5G chipset in their MacBook to provide hassle-free internet connectivity. I hope we’ll see these devices around until then be connect with us.
When Microsoft introduced its next-gen Surface hardware Surface Duo and Surface Neo last month it really amazed people around the world because this level of implementation of the Dual Screen device was not seen yet, we heard too many leaks of Microsoft Andromeda concept people probably think that Microsoft will implement the same Microsoft Phone but this time Microsoft has moved off the box bring Surface Duo and Neo.
Surface Duo is an Android-based smartphone that will feature Microsoft theme in-built so people will expect Microsoft bloatware rather than Google’s own native apps. While the Neo will be a next-generation Dual screen tablet-like, the concept, that will feature an entirely new O.S. called Windows 10X. These two new devices open a room for development which made Microsoft push the release date of these devices to 2020. But there too many questions around the developer community about dual-screen devices so let take this one by one.
Is Two Display Really Needed?
We already pushed out the capability of multitasking, considering our laptop there are too many windows when we work for the project and sometimes we need the same application to run on the same screen so, we may push these two apps easily on sides of the display and it will accordingly divide equally. Now, suppose this situation on smartphone or tablet which can’t be possible right now but Apple’s iPad really solves too many issues regarding multitasking but it still seems missing somethings. As Dual screen are better for managing apps rather than putting a apps on the same screen as it hides some of the important details which people see while using the apps in full screen, Dual screen will help to solve this issue as user can put apps on different on both side display so they can easily manage the task.
The dual-screen also gives more space while using single apps as when people used to write on tablet a giant keyboard fills up the half screen and this also seems annoying but Dual screen device can easily put the app on one screen and keyboard on other screens so the user won’t need an external keyboard while using.
Screen space on Surface dual-screen devices is also big as compared to today’s smartphone or tablets as the user can enjoy watching videos from YouTube or Netflix on the bigger display. One display of Surface Neo account is 9-inch so the dual-display will account for around 18-inch display areas which will be enough for watching experience.
Windows 10X & Android The Cross-Domain
Windows 10X is Microsoft’s upcoming O.S which will optimize for Dual-screen devices and it will feature new apps to gives full support of two screens as apps downsize when users want to use the shorter versions of the app or they can easily fill application on the full screen just a click away. This seamless integration of screen support will make using the app more intuitive, but it is still not clear that the previous Windows 10 apps were compatible with Windows 10X or they need to program support separately to make it compatible.
Microsoft also pushing their head toward Android O.S. as Google also support dual-screen devices from Android 10, and apps will also support dual-screen as it just needs to be configurable to fully support dual screen. During Surface hardware Microsoft tell that they will first improve the experience of app in Duo devices so it may be possible that Microsoft will support Android development in their developer environment or they will introduce an SDK (“Software Development Kit”) for Android Studio so Android developer can easily support Surface Duo form factor with Microsoft’s design requirement.
Microsoft already started developing its own applications like Outlook which will really use dual screen, other application will adopt dual-screen patterns from time to time which will give hint to the developer to easily adapt to the dual-screen.
Is It Worth For Developers?
Apps developer already started to adopt multitasking from while the ago so that best of the app can be seen on iPad apps like Pages, Safari, Notability, OneNote and various other adopt multitasking very well which results in a more productive environment.
So adopting for dual-screen apps will not be an issue for developers but the major answer will only be revealed when Microsoft releases the documentation of Windows 10X and Android for Surface Neo and Duo respectively. As one of the major question is that is developer has to code for Surface Neo or Duo again in their native environment separately or Microsoft will provide a bridge so that developer can natively build apps for whole Windows experience (UWP apps) at one which includes devices like PC, Laptop, Surface Hub, Xbox, HoloLens and Mixed Reality Headset.
The most expected device to develop for Microsoft developer will be Surface Neo as it will feature newer versions of Windows 10 so it may be possible that Microsoft will keep the same development roots rather than creating new development tools as it will be a time taking the process for them to create new tools. The developer has to take the risk for building for one device first as they get users and some notice.
There is a big stack on the mind of the developer because of Microsoft Phone which hardly took developer opinion and caused Microsoft Phone shut down. While Microsoft also tries to implement many good tools for a developer to make their existing apps on iOS or Android to run on Windows Phone but somehow this causes some error while bridging apps from one environment to another result in lots of bugs and crashes.
Taking Advantage Of The Screen Real Estate
Dual-screen apps have lots of opportunities to take as many developers to show some creativity like Asphalt 9 on LG G8X ThinQ user can use other screens like a native controller while playing on other screens. Microsoft already trying to build a project called xCloud which is now in beta phase as this will allow gamers to play console games on their portable device without a need of controller, the dual-screen devices could also enhance the way we play games on touch devices. Apps like Adobe Photoshop or Affinity Photo could have a panel of tools or features on one display with the image being edited isolated on the other. Other apps will need more thought to take advantage of the extra screen real estate provided by a second display.
Blackman gives some creative examples, such as games like Battleship. A two-player board game like Battleship might not be what the makers of dual-screen devices had in mind, but it’s a clever idea that could make such devices stand out. He also points towards readers as an optimal app for two screens, offering either a standard book-reading experience or using the second screen as space for notes or related web content.
Ultimately, it will depend on whether developers take advantage of the extra space, and how well. Every time a new form factor comes out, there’s a learning curve for app and content creators to take advantage of the new space. The benefit of devices like Surface Neo and Surface Duo is that while developers figure things out, many current apps will scale and be useable.
A Unique Opportunity
The next-gen Surface hardware really defines innovation and every innovation requires risk, there are lots of building opportunities for dual-screen devices as we could not speculate about what will happen with the future of Dual screen device but during to initial sighting, we could believe that this technology could have potential to stay. But this should totally depend upon Microsoft’s and Developers association as even one of them get loose their pace this device has to suffer and their users also.
Microsoft still staying tight-lipped about the development challenges of Surface Duo and Neo. Microsoft has just given us only a glimpse of future devices but we still not able to hands on the device to share you a full overall experience.
Apple might not introduce MacBook Pro and iPad Pro but 2020 may be the best year to introduce this product. Apple updates iPad Pro every one and a half year so it is expected that Apple will introduce iPad Pro by 2020, MacBook Pro 16-inch has also created a buzz this year but won’t able to make its introduction yet. But one of the most interesting products of 2020 may be Apple lower-cost iPhone or “iPhone SE 2”.
Apple still dominated small screen market as their iPhone earlier than iPhone 6 have pretty small display as compared with competitors but Apple move their attitude towards what customer wants and introduce iPhone 6 and then onwards Apple moved to larger screen segment but they did not forget small screen segment as in 2016 Apple introduces iPhone SE which looks similar to iPhone 5S but as specifics same as iPhone 6S. So you might think about how Apple still making innovation in the small size smartphone segment.
A rumor from Ming Chi Kuo who expected that Apple will produce 20 million iPhone SE 2 which is set to be released in 2020. Apple could increase production by 30 million units if the situation becomes too optimistic as said by Kuo.
According to Kuo, the iPhone SE 2 will use a 10-layer Substrate-like PCB (SLB) for its motherboard, which will benefit some iPhone suppliers like Pending Holdings, Xinxing, and AT&S despite the fact that it’s expected to be a less expensive component than the SLP used in the iPhone 11 series.
Kuo also shared some details about the design of iPhone SE 2 as it may look same as iPhone 8, as iPhone SE 2 might only mislead customer who is buying iPhone 8 ending to buy iPhone SE 2 in future.
But specs of the device will be pretty solids as it will feature a 4.7-inch display, a single-lens rear camera, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Inside the device will feature Apple’s A13 Chip which introduces along iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, and it will have 3GB of RAM.
Pretty solid specs could cost pretty much as it is expected that iPhone SE 2 will cost pretty much about $399. At that price point, it will replace the iPhone 8, which Apple currently sells for $449. Apple iPhone 6 has still pretty strong sales so Apple could hope to maintain this market. So they could bring some refreshments to this sector.
It is also expected that Apple could launch this product so they can dominate emerging smartphone markets like India and China, where competition is pretty insane. The new iPhone is expected to come out in the spring of 2020, in which Apple could launch its other expected products like iPad Pro and MacBook Pro 16-inch which could feature micro-LED display.
Adobe finally releases its iPad version of Photoshop which is the company’s most anticipated app that they had announced in 2018 during the Apple October event in which Apple introduced iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch. As these devices have the best performance and Pro level application will surely help to take advantage of its power. According to Adobe, this apps has almost all the features you could expect on the PC version of Photoshop with support of the creative cloud.
You could use the application as on-trail basis for 30 days and then can decide whether it is worthy or not, or if you are already a Creative Cloud subscriber you just need to login and you are done to use it right away.
The app has full support for Apple Pencil, and let you work on full PSD files – layers and all. The company has also modified oft-used Photoshop functions for touchscreen interfaces, such as quick selection and paintbrush.
Here’s the list of supported devices:
iPad Pro (Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi, and Cellular)
iPad Pro (12.9-inch) and 2nd generation
iPad Pro (10.5-inch)
iPad Pro (9.7-inch)
iPad 5th Generation
iPad Mini 4
iPad Air 2
You can also save your file in the cloud and continue to work on it on your desktop later. The new version has many features that should finally meet the needs of pro users on the go, especially when compared to Photoshop Express. The list includes full PSD support, layer editing tools, and brushes.
Photoshop is one of the famous pro app that arrived on iPad long ago a while Apple introduces iPad Pro lineup in 2016, since then we haven’t seen Pro developer attracted to iOS or iPadOS for creating apps but now everything has changed and we can finally see more innovation ahead.
Adobe is also reportedly preparing its other Pro apps illustrator which is a graphics editor app that will be a part of the iPad next year. Some day we could expect Premier Pro could also arrive on iPad if Adobe follow this path.
You can download Adobe Photoshop for iPad from here.
Microsoft Edge may not be a favorite browser for many users because of its backtracing to Internet Explorer but Microsoft trying to change this thing by introducing Chromium-based Edge, this Edge browser is built upon Chromium engine which you may see in Google’s Chrome Web browser. Microsoft is pioneering web browser from the early 21st Century as they heavily invested in Web browser Internet explorer so that Microsoft Windows users can use Internet Explorer as their native browser. But things started to getting change once Safari and Chrome took over Internet Explorer, Microsoft again introduces their next-gen browser Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 but it also starts to getting fail because of poor support of website and rendering issues.
Microsoft trying to change this thing by the introduction of the Chromium-based Edge browser which is still in beta phase but soon is available for a general user. Microsoft is now refreshing the logo for the Edge browser, as they try to remove their past from Internet Explorer days. Microsoft’s new logo was discovered as part of a new surfing mini-game hidden inside the latest Canary versions of Edge. It looks like a wave and includes a similar Fluent Design style to the company’s new Office icons. This new logo gives us a glimpse of surfing the web.
The logo spells out the letter e but still looks different as compared with Internet Explorer logo and looks a lot more moderns approach with Gradients and colorful design. Microsoft Edge new version also pushing its design to a more modern fluent design approach rather than previous frost design as the pace of changing interface is slow but decent.
The new icons of Edge is hidden by Microsoft as an Easter Egg hunt where Microsoft employees posted cryptic clues to a series of puzzles and images. Puzzle solvers even had to render an Edge icon as a 3D object, thanks to Obj model code that was hidden in an image. It all led to a series of words discovered in seven clues, which were then inputted into a Javascript function on Microsoft’s Edge Insider website. This revealed which words needed to be pulled from a video for the final instructions to discover the secret surfing game (edge://surf/) and the new logo when you complete it.
The secret edge surfing game is very similar to Microsoft’s earlier game SkiFree which was introduced in 1991. You can use WASD on the keyboard to navigate around to avoid obstacles or threatening octopus tentacles and picking up speed boost and shields on the way.
But the main question still arises that when will Microsoft gonna release the final version Edge browser. They release a beta version back in August, and the stable version appeared on the web recently. Microsoft Chromium-based Edge will be available on Windows 10 and macOS but the release date is still in question. Microsoft is holding the Ignite event in Orlando next week which we could believe that Microsoft will give any hint of a release date.
Apple streaming service Apple TV+ is finally here, with some new unseen show along with Hollywood A-listers. Apple has invested an enormous $5 Billion to make the first season of this streaming service which accounts for 10 shows and movies. Apple TV+ may seem new to many customers as their shows are curated from Apple rather than making the partnership with another studio to make their famous shows available on their own platform. Apple’s strategy to invest in streaming business may sound conspicuous as streaming services like Netflix, Amazon’s Prime Video, Hulu and various other already dominating the industry so how could Apple show its presence in this world, these are major question arises to many which we’ll discuss one by one in this issue so let’s get started.
Pilot
Apple TV+ is streaming service from Apple which includes shows like “Dickinson”, “See”, “For All Mankind”, “Ghost Writer”, “Snoopy in Space”, “Helpsters” and much anticipated “The Morning Show”. These shows are pretty straight forward and very small in terms of the episode as “The Morning Show”, “For All Mankind” and “See” only features 3 episodes as these shows one episode takes million to produce while watching these you may notice tons of details which represents they made by big productions companies.
Other shows like “Dickinson”, “Ghost Writer”, “Helpsters” and “Snoopy in Space” feature small playtime conclude more than 7 episodes. While Apple also features a documentary about Elephant called “The Elephant Queen” which really looks great entertainment to watch.
Pricing and Subscription
Apple TV+ subscription start with $4.99 for a month, as a free trial Apple is providing a 7 days period so that user can take a look of the service to choose wisely to switch their streaming service. Family sharing also available with this subscription up to 5 family members. Apple also bundled TV+ with Apple Music Student Plan which helps Apple to grabs some more customers.
Or if you buy new Apple hardware after Sept. 10 you are eligible for a 1-year free subscription of TV+, this may sound too awkward as millions of people already buying Apple Hardware. But Apple is trying to dominate the industry by giving free access so the user can adapt to the Apple environment easily as this step gives Apple around 100 million of the subscriber during its one year of launch which really made other services look underrated.
What Is Apple Step Toward TV+?
Apple TV+ may not fit in business policy of Netflix or Disney+ as these services are based on content, but take an example of Prime Videos which features subscription-based strategy as in Prime Bundle you can get Amazon Music, Prime Delivery and Prime Videos which completes user whole need, Apple TV+ also made promise to walkover Amazon strategy. To attract more new and customers from other services to Apple’s streaming Apple may change its policy.
The Upside of TV+
Each story in TV+ really looks handcrafted as each show was created by Hollywood A-lister. Story details, time of setting, acting all are contributing a better engagement to watch. Performance from stars like Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Reese Witherspoon in “The Morning Show”, Jason Momoa in “See” and Hailee Steinfeld in “Dickinson” are outstanding as you could also feel every and every detail of their actions while watching the show. Pricing of TV+ is pretty low as compared with $6.99 for Disney+, $12.99 for Netflix, TV+ has a really low price all over the industry.
The downside of TV+
Apple TV+ not seems to have too much content in the current scenario, and Apple is planning to launch around 12 shows and movies by the end of this year, which may sound too little to compete with other streaming giants. Shows of TV+ are very small in terms of showtime in which some shows are expected to have more episodes as character build-up may be stuck to maintain showtime in which story may sometime feel missing some important plot.
Apple may collaborate with other studios to bring their shows on Apple TV+ which may bring more user engagement. Studio-like CW Studio, ABS Studio, BCC and various other studios can join TV+ that will bring a bigger catalog. Binge-watching of Apple TV+ shows is very small as you can finish a show for around 3-4 hours each which is very small as to their competitor which ranges around 10-12 hours.
Billion Dollar Question
Does the main question arise that you should subscribe to TV+ or not? As its depend on your preference as TV+ is in its infant stage so we could expect some time to build its reputation and it would take around 6-12 months for Apple to make more clear detail for future of TV+.
You could subscribe to TV+ subscription for 7 days trail and easily know that you like initial time or you could wait so that TV+ could grow. You can watch TV+ on Apple TV apps which is available on iPhone, iPod, iPad, MacBook, Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV, Sony Smart TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and various other places. Apple also trying to push the bars and may bring its services to Android and Windows which will account for too many users.
Apple silently released its new version of AirPods without any event to justify its existence, AirPods are the most loved wireless buds around the world as we could easily see AirPods everywhere around. Apple has already updated AirPods earlier this year but this time they try to make the experience much better than ever as they have added active noise cancellation which really helps to enhance the listening experience by far. Now Apple trying to enter into different categories of devices which are called Noise Cancellation Earbuds which made AirPods Pro directly compere with Sony WF-1000XM3 which has really weird name but decent performance.
New AirPods are called AirPods Pro but there is some doubt to called it “Pro” which we’ll discuss after a while. So first, let’s talk about each and every feature of it one by one.
Design: Modern and more convenient
It is finally looking like that Apple has listened to its customer for building AirPods, as AirPods are made for fixed ear sized so people with larger or smaller ears could suffer for fitting AirPods in their ears, sometimes people also not comfortable to wear AirPods in public or during workout without strapping with a third parties band which could hold AirPods in user’s neck. But AirPods Pro features changeable ear tip design which users can change according to their own ear fits with exact seal. Apple also made a feature to check the better seal to experience noise cancellation in the setting of AirPods this is a convenient feature to check the fitment of AirPods before use. If you lose your tips, you’ll be able to buy replacements in each size from Apple’s retail stores for around $4.00.
Apple also made the form factor of AirPods Pro more compact as the weight of AirPods more over the ear tip rather than putting weight on its legs. Short AirPods Pro now not look like “Tampons” as earlier AirPods. AirPods Pro now has a larger vent for air to get through the device this may cause some issue when the user using noise cancellation as it not provide pure isolation. But the Air vent on-device help Air to get easily pass through and help the user to use the earbuds to more time.
Now there is a pressure-sensitive area on AirPods Pro legs which can help the user to swap between Transparency mode and Noise Cancellation Mode easily and hazel free. While other tapping features still work on the device you could configure tapping option for talking to Siri, to change track according to your usage.
Carrying Case of AirPods Pro also adopts new design as it may look like previous AirPods rotate horizontally and stretched this made the new case shorter in length but wider. But the charing case is still easy to carry without any issue.
Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode: Not Quite Obvious
If you are expecting Noise Cancellation quality like Bose Noise Cancellation Headphone 700 or Sony Noise Cancellation headphone you may be disappointed because Noise cancellation is good when user listening some in-room environment but when taking AirPods to outside some outside noise coming through which may drop sound experience or taking an airplane ride may also some disappointing results.
Transparency Mode adds some ergonomically way to use AirPods Pro while listening as it could help you to listen outside noise simultaneously listening to music which helps while walking on the road and listening to music. You just have to hold the force sensor, and a little chime indicates that you’ve entered the ambient sound mode. The vent system also comes into play here, as you can talk at people’s normal volumes without speaking awkwardly loud or shouting because of the ear tip seal. You’re free to just leave transparency mode active whenever you want, so this is a helpful feature for people who like the awareness provided by the open-air design of the regular AirPods.
Talking about music experience sound of the device is a little bit better than normal AirPods due to its new iteration of Noise cancellation as it provides more noise isolation and bass get some subtle improvement help to rock you sooner.
Performance: Adding Feature Result No Issue to Performance
One of the most concerning fact of AirPods Pro battery life of the device and it could manage better even Noise Cancellation on as it could give around 4.5 hours of battery life while listening in 50 percent of volume while rocking up the volume made the battery life to hits harder and gives around 2 hours of battery life with Noise cancellation on, but new case of AirPods Pro gives quick charge which could make your listening experience more seamless and could give around 24 hours of total battery life including AirPods Pro initial charging.
Waterproofing: Now made AirPods Pro more intuitive to use
This time Apple finally listens to one of the most requested features is WaterProofing as AirPods Pro is now certified with an IPX4 rating which simply means sweat or rainproof which provides the user more confidence to wear AirPods every situation they want.
Other not so new feature
Talking about internal AirPods Pro feature Bluetooth 5.0 for better and farther connectivity so a user can listen to the song while walk easily and not to carry their smartphone for short distances. The AirPods Pro sports is Apple’s own custom made chipset H1 which powers the device features like seamless connectivity with all iCloud connected iOS and Mac devices without having to disconnect from older devices. Other feature like stopping of sound when talking off AirPods also works seamless and amazing.
AirPods Pro share some common design and internal feature from PowerBeats Pro which also made by Apple. But one feature which made PowerBeats Pro more intuitive to use its battery life which is around 9 hours of usages, PowerBeats also features as secure earlock for a more intensive sporting session.
Why Pro?
One of concerning facts of AirPods Pro it’s naming as Apple now featuring Pro name without concerning its gravity as like iPhone 11 Pro which doesn’t feature most concerning feature like Pro should consider. While the naming Pro naming is given to Apple product for more justifying the price rather than a feature.
If we could think why this device is for it may because of its new feature of Noise Cancellation which is a much-expected feature for Apple AirPods, but the quality of Noise cancellation is decent rather than good or amazing. The battery life of the device is good while in Noise cancellation mode but these are not many facts to prove this is a “Pro”.
AirPods Pro costs around $249 and stating available from Today near your Apple store. The device is available in White color but not the black color which is meant for Pro user.
Apple Watch Series 5 yet not made its appearance to the real world at much extent and Apple is starting producing next-generation Apple Watch which may be called Apple Watch Series 6 if they stick to naming series. According to Foxconn and Compal Electronics, they have obtained orders to assemble 2020 models of the Apple Watch. The report adds that Luxshare Precision will likely take orders for older Apple Watch models. Series 5 has really defined what a smartwatch should be which has all the requested features, but Apple still missing some features like sleep tracking or blood glucose monitoring in the device.
Compal Electronics and Foxconn Technology Group (Hon Hai Precision Industry) have obtained orders for the 2020 series of Apple Watch, while China-based Luxshare ICT will likely take orders for old-generation Apple Watch devices, according to industry sources. Quanta computer who is manufacturing Apple Watch Since 2015 is likely to hit because of these new vendors into the market, so Quanta is likely to stop assembling the Apple Watch in 2020 due to alleged “profit concerns”.
Apple is currently pioneering in wearable health technology as features like ECG/EKG tracking is present in smartwatch which sounds insane if talk about a decade ago, but Apple has made Apple Watch monitor these type of metric. But one of the most concerning health issue among user is Blood Glucose which hits the whole world in some way, there has been a rumor that Apple has a team of biomedical engineers working on a method for non-invasively monitoring blood glucose levels using optical sensors. Apple already pushing this optical sensor for measuring various heart-related activity not measuring blood glucose will really solve the future problem easily.
In 2020 Apple is trying to shift their display technology toward MicroLED rather pushing for LED or OLED as MicroLED has already many benefits as compared with OLED or LED and we could soon see a device from Apple which will purely feature a MicroLED display. MicroLED also makes its debut in Apple Watch Series 6 as it could provide thinner, brighter and more power-efficient display as compared to current OLED models. Apple may also 5G in their next-generation Apple Watch Series 6 models would likely arrive in September 2020.
The Google Pixel 4 series is finally here. The last leaked images that surfaced on the web turned out to be true so there is no more surprise on how the phone looks. What we’re more interested in today are the new features and the pricing. We’re actually intrigued with the new things Google is offering through the Pixel 4. There are two variants: the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL. They look basically the same. The specs are almost the same but with a few differences.
Let’s start with the basics first–specs. The Pixel 4 comes equipped with a 5.7-inch OLED screen, 90Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ resolution, Snapdragon 855 processor with Pixel Neural Core, 64GB or 128GB onboard storage, 6GB of RAM, Face unlock, Titan M Security Module, and a 2800mAH battery!!. When it comes to the imaging department, there is a dual rear camera system that includes a 12MP Dual Pixel wide camera and a 16MP telephoto lens. The 8MP front-facing camera is ready for your endless selfies.
When it comes to pricing, the phone starts at $799 for the 64GB model. The 128GB model is $899. Color options are as follows: Just Black, Oh So Orange, and Clearly White.
Meanwhile, Google Pixel 4XL boasts a 6.3-inch screen with 90Hz refresh rate, 3040 x 1440 resolution, 3700mAh battery, and stereo speakers. The rest of the specs are the same as the Pixel 4. The Pixel 4 XL starts at $899. Both phones will be available beginning October 24 (Not in India).
The Pixel 4 boasts an industrial design. Unlike the iPhone
11 that feels solid and made from a single material, the new Pixel appears to
be a combination of many parts. The back is glass while the phone’s build is a
metal frame.
Hands-On
The square camera module is present but with an obvious bulge. It’s not triples but only dual rear shooters. The camera performs well with upgraded features like Live HDR+, Super Res Zoom, and Night Mode. Other major features include the Motion Sensor using the Soli radar chipset, 90 Hz screen as rumored before, Ambient EQ, 18W fast-charging, Qi wireless charging, and face recognition.
PIXEL 4 and 4XL DESIGN
The devices look like previous offerings from Google, with
some slight design changes.
The Pixel 4 now has 5.7-inch OLED screen – slightly larger
than the 5.5-inch Pixel 3, while Google’s Pixel XL keeps the same 6.3-inch OLED
display as last year’s model.
The phone is held together by an aluminum band, with a matte-glass or glossy rear panel (depending on the color). Gorilla Glass 5 is also on the front and back of the handset.
This design isn’t going to feel as premium as Samsung’s Note
10 or Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro, but that won’t be noticeable unless you’re a
cowboy who doesn’t use a protective case.
The ugly notch Google copied off Apple has been removed,
with the company opting for a forehead bezel that houses the selfie camera and
face unlock sensors Along with a radar sensor.
The body will use the same material found in most flagship
smartphones in 2019, glass on the back and front to allow for wireless
charging, and an aluminum frame for durability.
It will come in three colors, Just Black, Clearly White, and
Orange. White and Orange have a matte finish hybrid coating while the black is
glossy material (which means it is a fingerprint magnet). Both the front and
back are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
Display
The Pixel 4 XL had a small screen size decrease from 6.3
inches to 6.23 inches. The Pixel 4 will actually be larger at 5.7 inches. Both
have OLED panels (produced by Samsung) with support for HDR and always-on
display. As far as the resolutions are concerned, the Pixel 4 has the same
resolution as its predecessor but the Pixel 4 XL actually has a higher 3040 x
1440 (the Pixel 3 XL was 2960 x 1440).
The screen uses the P3 gamut for the first time (the same
used by iPhones), allowing for higher color accuracy. It will also support
HDR10 content on YouTube and Netflix.
The “forehead” is as large as the Pixel 3, but the
chin is one of the smallest in the industry. Fans of symmetry may not like it,
but the extra sensors for Soli and secure face unlock are packed into that top
bezel, and at least they didn’t use a notch.
Both Pixel 4 devices are able to output games at 90 fps, 30
more frames per second than the standard screen. To enable, you must turn on
Smooth Display, a feature which allows Android to dynamically adjust the refresh
rate based on the running apps. Playing a game, 90 Hz will turn on. Making a
call, the screen will adjust to 60 Hz.
The Pixel 4 also has a feature known as Ambient EQ, which is
essentially Google’s version of Apple’s True Tone. Based on the surrounding
lights, the display will automatically adjust the white balance for improved
viewing experience. The screen will appear more consistent and be one less
feature iPhone fans can claim they have over the Pixel devices.
Performance
As always, Google Pixel phones are the purest Android experience on the market. There’s no third-party interface overlay or third-party editions of “Mail” or “Web Browser,” and Google will deliver the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL pre-loaded with Android 10.
Google loaded the Pixel 4 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 CPU, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. In addition, this is Google’s first 90 Hz screen. A faster refresh rate should mean smoother video, games, and app interactions, but I don’t know if average users will notice. In general, my brief experience using the device was good. It didn’t stutter or pause through any operation and was generally a pleasure to use.
As we said, Google Pixel 4 is a good, pure Android/Google
experience, but the Pixel has never led in design or, aside from photography,
overall features. This phone does go a big step further with gesture
capabilities, but it also hews pretty closely to Google’s strategy of pushing
the envelope strategically without trying to run away with the ball.
By steering clear of shock and awe, Google put the science
and technology behind features like Gesture Control, HDR+ Live, and Night Sight
in the spotlight. Maybe it did suck a little excitement out of the day, but,
ultimately, the Google Pixel 4’s performance will speak for itself.
Battery
Surprisingly, the battery in the Google Pixel 4 will be reduced. Despite the increased screen size and the higher refresh rate, the battery will slightly smaller at 2,800 mAh battery.
The opposite is true for the Pixel 4 XL. Its battery increased to 3,700 mAh, around an 8% increase. Both models support wireless charging via the Qi standard and fast wired charging using USB Power Delivery and include an 18 W USB PD charger in the box.
Camera
The Google Pixel 4’s camera features are as impressive as ever,
with both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL bringing seriously awesome camera specs to
the table.
During Made by Google event, we got a bit more information
about what to expect from them. Both phones have multiple cameras with
12.1-megapixel main and 16-megapixel selfie cameras, which lets the compete
with the iPhone 11’s feature set, though there isn’t a wide-angle lens to tie
it all together. The cameras can handle great video as well, with 4K up to 30
fps and 1080p at 120 fps.
The phones will use optical zoom with the second camera as
well as the same “Super Res Zoom” tech introduced with the Pixel 3,
and you’ll get some higher-quality photos thanks to the “software-defined
camera.” It uses the Pixel Neural Core’s software learning techniques to
track motion and faces, and helps to deliver the best focus and exposure
possible in sunlight or nighttime shots.
It also features dual exposure, which should help you figure
out the best way to approach having to take photos in direct sunlight. The
Pixel 4 gives you a slider to adjust the brighter and darker parts of your
photo even when it’s too bright to make it a more balanced image overall. With
that in mind, it’s great at low light photography as well. This should pair
well with its portrait style mode, which is similar to that of what the iPhone
offers. Finally, Pixel 4 includes HDR+, which should help in defining both
bright and darker shots, which you can gauge before you take a shot, with
Google’s Live HDR+ feature in mind.
Security
The Pixel 4 is the first Android phone in the US with secure
face unlock. Using an array of sensors, the Pixel 4 can detect your face no
matter how you hold your phone. Unlike the iPhone, there is no need to swipe up
to unlock your phone. Instead, once you face your phone and the Soli sensor
recognizes that you may want to unlock your phone, it will unlock. And your
face data, along with any other sensitive transactions, are stored locally
within the Titan M security chip for ultimate protection.
Other Features
Voice Recorder With Live Transcription
The fine folks at Google have created a wonderful voice
recording application that includes live transcription services. The demoed
showed off during the latest Made by Google showcased some very impressive
transcription services, all of which work right off the device.
On top of offering transcription as you talk, the voice
recorder application also allows you to search for specific words or phrases
and can then take you to those direct moments when in voice recordings. This
ensures you can always find what you’re looking for in the various recordings
that you take.
It’s really cool to see Google taking such efforts to make
use of your smartphone that much easier, and to be honest, the voice recording
application the tech giant showed off appears to be the most comprehensive
we’ve seen on a phone yet. It also is all handled on the device, as during the
demo the phone was in airplane mode, which means it wasn’t connected to any
kind of network.
It’s insane to see how far technology continues to expand
and evolve, and the idea that ten years from now, we’ll be seeing even greater
strides is mind-boggling to think about. For now, though, we know that the
Pixel 4 has quite a lot of great features that fans of the phone series will
enjoy and find useful, but the voice recording software has to be one of the
biggest standouts we’ve seen. Being able to search for phrases or words you’ve
spoken in a voice recording is fantastic, and being able to view the
transcription, live as it happens, well let’s just say Google has done a great
job with it if it really works that well.
Motion Sense
Pixel 4’s Motion Sense feature uses a miniature radar sensor
that allows you to use the phone without having to physically touch it.
The feature means it can sense when you’re reaching for the
phone and will initiate face unlock, likewise It will also turn off your screen
when you’re not around.
“New Quick Gestures” let you control your device
without having to touch the screen. Say you are running on the treadmill and
want to skip the song, it’s as simple as swiping your hand across the front of
the device.
Time will tell if this is a gimmick or a useful feature. I can see a little of both.

Apple puts its Pro MacBook users in a great dilemma as this year’s most expected product MacBook Pro 16” still not able to make its appearance, as it is expected that 16” MacBook Pro will bring quite a lot improvement as compared with recent MacBook Pro 2019. While it is unclear still that MacBook Pro 16-inch could make its appearance this year or 2020, the latest report from DigiTimes claims that Apple will be receiving volume shipments of the notebook in the fourth quarter of this year. Taiwan-based manufacturer Quanta Computer is said to be the key supplier.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro will be a replacement for a 15-inch MacBook Pro with some better improvement like Ultra-thin bezel design, the overall size of the new MacBook Pro 16-inch might be similar to existing MacBook Pro 15 inch with larger Display. Apple also gets rid of the Butterfly keyboard from MacBook Pro this time as they again bring Scissor mechanism keys back to MacBook Pro as this may more keyspace but give better stability than the Apple Butterfly keyboard. GPU of MacBook Pro may also receive some update with CPU update which may include Intel’s 10th Gen. CPU’s.
Apple also hinted at the new MacBook Pro 16-inch in their latest macOS Catalina which could give us an approximation of releasing date of MacBook Pro. MacBook Pro 16-inch TouchID will likely be separated from the Touch Bar in the notebook. The leaked Touch Bar design lends credence to the Esc key also being a separate, physical key again, as can be seen when zooming in to the previously leaked 16-inch MacBook Pro icon.
Apple receiving volume shipments of the 16-inch MacBook Pro in the fourth quarter does not necessarily mean the notebook will launch in the fourth quarter. Apple may simply be planning to stockpile the 16-inch MacBook Pro ahead of the U.S. government’s proposed 15 percent import tariff on an additional round of Chinese goods, including notebooks, slated to take effect December 15.
According to a report from DigiTimes, it is expected that Apple could launch MacBook Pro 16-inch by end of October but they launch AirPods Pro instead. Apple also launches their iPad Pro along with next-gen. MacBook Pro.
