Google Pixel 4 really amazed the audience and how Google tweaked the device to capture most vivid inside our universe, they also release a laptop and some home products with Nest naming. Alphabet the parent company of Google owns Nest which made home-based stuff, this time Google releases Nest Wi-Fi which is an iteration of previous Google Wi-Fi, Google tries to keep clarity between its hardware which is really good for the consumer to easily understand.
Nest Wi-Fi has made a next-level approach by the introduction of Google Assistant along with speaker output which you will surely not going to find anywhere else, as Wi-Fi speaker is first of its variant and Nest tries to make it distinct. Nest Wi-Fi have all the parental control feature same as Google W-Fi, Hardware is backward compatible along with previous-gen. setup so users don’t have to throw their old Wi-Fi.
Nest Wi-Fi comes in two variant, one is kind of Router while the other one is called “Point” which is basically used to extend the range of Router. The whole Wi-Fi system works harmoniously to provide its user best connectivity experience. One “Point” can increase the coverage about 25 percent further than the previous generation- which Google claims is enough for a 3,800 square foot home. Only the “Point” has a Google Assistant smart speaker built-in, though.
Nest has bundled these products like a pack of two that will cost around $269, and there’s a three-pack for $349, with preorders today and devices available on November 4th in the US and coming to other countries in Q4.
The nest is putting some Google design language to its product with fabric design which made the device more colorful, “Point” will arrive in three different pastel colors, a white, brown and blue though the Router will always be white. It’s also the only one with Gigabit Ethernet ports around back to plug in your modem and one additional wired device.
One of the most important things with Nest Wi-Fi as it supports 802.11s mesh networking standard which can help the user to choose different options easily or opt for future versions of the device.
Nest Wi-Fi still not supports Wi-Fi 6 standard (802.11ax), but the company does claim these new routers are twice as fast as the previous generation with AC2200 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, with a 4 x 4 antenna configuration on the Router and 2 x 2 antennas on the Point for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Google Assistant work with the device seamlessly, users can make request specific to Wi-Fi like Pause Wi-Fi of any user or turn of the Wi-Fi which is good.
