There is not much difference while just looking at the phones from outside, they both are of almost same size & weight.
Moto G5 & G5 Plus At The MWC 2017:
Most importantly the user will be able to get a specific model among both the announced handsets based on their locations as the Regular Moto G5 model will not be available in the US this year, instead, they will have to opt for the G5 Plus model which will be having a different configuration in technical terms. The regular G5 model will be only available for sale in the international markets the current year.
Coming down now let’s have a look around with the specifications of both the handsets one by one:
The Moto G5:
This phone will be featuring 5 inches of full HD display & will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor having a RAM of 2GB with internal storage capacity of 16GB & 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. Both of them will be having a support for memory expansion through microSD. A fingerprint sensor sits on the front side for the smart unlocking feature.
Embedded within a camera of 13MP having features like phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and a f/2.0 aperture for the rear one & at the front a 5-megapixel front facing the camera with a wide field of view and an f/ 2.2 aperture is there. Talking about the battery capacity & feature, Moto G5 is equipped with a battery of 2800 mAh that is a removable one & supports a 10W rapid charging facility.
The Moto G5 is totally water resistant, having a nanocoating on it facilitates its water repellent feature. In terms of software, the smartphone is running on the latest Android v7.0 Nougat. This smart package is being offered at the starting price of $210 for the 2GB/32GB version (in Europe) & will be available starting from March this year.
The Moto G5 Plus:
No, you are getting it wrong as we have already told you at the very starting that both the models are almost of the same size & weight. This clears that the word Plus does not indicate the bigger size of the Moto G5 Plus but in this case, it refers to a better configuration into it. Also, a fingerprint sensor sits on the front side for a smart unlocking feature like the G5 but additionally it has a support for NFC-based wireless payments.
The Moto G5 Plus features a full HD display of 5.2 inches instead of having a protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The configuration includes a Snapdragon 625 chipset being offering 2/3/4 GB of RAM in combination with different internal storage options of 32/64 GB to choose from.
The camera over here at the rear is of 12 MP shooter with dual autofocus Pixel, f/1.7 aperture, 1.4um pixel featured with color balancing dual LED flash. The 5-megapixel selfie camera provides the support for 4K video recording which was lacked in the G5 model. The Battery associated with the phone is a non-removable one with 3000 mAh capacity having a feature of TurboPower charger.
The G5 Plus starting price is $229 for the 2GB/32GB storage option (in America) & for the 3GB/32GB model it will be going up to $294 (in Europe). The G5 Plus model of the phone will also be launching in March this year.
The Parallel Features:
Both the handsets i.e G5 & G5 Plus will be coming with micro USB and 3.5mm headphone jacks, which means they’ll work with all the charging cables and headphones you already have around the house so nothing to worry about that one.
As both the phones are having a fingerprint sensor, it is going to play an even bigger role in your day-to-day phone interaction as it comes with brand new Moto Actions gesture support if you buy the Plus version. Called One Button Nav, the new feature turns the sensor into a tiny trackpad that can replace the default Android navigation buttons typically found in a row at the bottom of the display. That frees up the even more real estate for apps since those menu buttons won’t get in the way when the feature is enabled. This is Motorola’s unique way of increasing display real estate without removing the fingerprint sensor from the front side or increasing the overall size of the handset.
Overall the Moto G5 Plus is more power packed handset having a greater configuration & features as well although there is some price difference between the two but that looks genuine for the features being offered by the company.
