Finally, the wait is over! Curtains have been raised from the most awaited MIUI 11 launch. The new MIUI version brings brand new optimized modern UI design focused on content viewing. It comes with features such as dynamic font scaling and dynamic sound effects. Xiaomi has announced the list of devices that are set to receive MIUI 11. The closed beta (China ROM) release of the latest MIUI is available for early testers, while its open beta rollout will be kicked off on September 27 for 17 different devices in China. Let’s talk about the features:
Modern design & Dynamic Font Style:
Xiaomi believe, removing visual clutter, putting the focus on content and enhancing gesture controls make your interaction with a mobile device simple, intuitive and productive. In MIUI 11 they have tried to implement that. MIUI 11 removes redundant visual clutters and comes with interactive controls designed for touch, and refine the use of color which allows us to create the system where nothing stands between you and content.
Beauty starts with text. The Chinese system font customization pioneer has evolved again. The new Mi Lanting Pro is further optimized. The newly designed typefaces are visually more appealing and balanced, Western text-text reading is more comfortable. On a whole, with MIUI 11 let the beauty of words infiltrate every time you read. MIUI 11 introduces the world’s first dynamic font scaling feature. Here, the text is steplessly adjusted, and everyone can find the weight that suits them. The text weight can be adjusted based on the content level and the importance of bold, to make the reading experience more extreme.
Ambient Display:
MIUI 11 has given Always On Display – an absolutely refreshing look. Ambient display now comes with gorgeous dynamic themes. From the ever- changing kaleidoscope that reflects the beauty of light to the wave-point dial that expresses the mathematical rhythm, the original still patterns bloom on the screen, all are as refined as art. Also introducing Breathing light effect: let the whole screen breathe. Notification can now be shown as an animation when the display is off. With the new AOD, you can even personalize the lock screen with your favorite slogans or any texts you want. The customizations include the words, text color, alignment, text size etc.
MIUI dynamic natural sound system
MIUI 11 integrates new dynamic sounds effects that resemble ambient sounds from nature. It’s a natural stunning “hearing feast”. The sound of wonderful creatures in nature has become the notification sound of MIUI 11, and every listening is wonderful; at the same time, it changes through out the day, perfectly integrated into the environment. Directly select the sounds of nature to write a melody. Seven days a week, different elements, different dynamic alarm will gently wake you up. These new visual design and sound effects have won two Red Dot design awards of 2019— a first ever design award, awarded in smartphone software industry.
Efficiency innovation
MIUI 11 brings a powerful and reliable tool for your work and life. The Mi Work suite offers cross-platform file sharing, large document transfer between multiple devices, smart screen cast, and wireless printing. On the other hand, the Mi Go suite is touted to include a smart travel assistant and brings a new “extreme power saving mode”, which enables a standby time of up to 24 hours with only five percent battery life. We will explore them in details now.
Cross-platform – High-speed file transfer
It has now become faster and more convenient to transfer photos, files, and even applications between mobile phones. There will be more support for mutual transmission with OPPO, Vivo smartphones. Please note: This function is only supported with Android P and above (excluding Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 7A, Redmi 7, Redmi S2). OPPO and Vivo support cross-brand mobile phones to promote each other, provided the system album home page has the bulk sending function,which would come with an upgrade of the album to 2.2.15.5 and above in October. Datas can also be transferred between phones and laptops very easily. Simply tap and share the searched Mi notebook to send the file to your computer without installing any apps.
Enhanced Document Viewing Experience
Here comes an all new file management. All the documents and files in your phone can be managed and viewed in one place. MIUI 11 also brings Professional Document Viewer. Android’s first support for mainstream document thumbnails makes it as intuitive and efficient as browsing a file on your computer. Please note: documents generated by the third-party application need to be actively updated to the system media library for viewing. This function is only supported for Android P and above versions. With some Android O versions, the actual thumbnail style is based on the online version. The mainstream document refers to .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .pdf, .wps, .txt, etc.
All-round Projection
With MIUI 11 forget about all sorts of cables and connectors. Your phone is now your pager, word processor and laser pen and is a personal tool for your workplace. MIUI’s all-round projection allows you to cast videos, games, documents, apps to more than 300 TVs.
This function is only supported for Android P and above versions. For some Android O version phones, this function only supports some Xiaomi TVs, and needs to be upgraded the TV side “wireless display” to the latest version. Non-Mi TV is provided by the music broadcast screen. In some TVs the Miracast function is needs to be manually opened to complete the screencast, and the application content is provided by the Keep App. Your privacy is our utmost concern. The casting allows you to hide personal items (SMS, messages, calls) to keep all sensitive things private.
Wireless printing
Printing does not have to use a computer. No need to install the app. With MIUI 11 you can print photos and documents wirelessly with your phone as well as intimate print settings and exception reminders. It supports more than 2,000 printers on the market.
To do list
This is for you to arrange every day and everything properly. The new ‘Task’ is added to the notes app. A new reminder feature that helps you easily create, organize, and track your tasks. When the task is about to begin, it will also take the initiative to remind. You can quickly add and manage to-do items by swiping from the edge of the screen.
Super power saving
MIUI 11 brings Ultra battery saver mode. One-click transformation feature that allows your device to be on just 5% of the battery for a whole day. It allows you to get rid of anxiety and distress when your phone’s battery is running low. It restricts most power-consuming features and decreases your device’s performance in order to leave basic functionality (e.g. calls, sms and connecting to net) available as long as possible.
Time album
Keep every good memory. While traveling, gathering, or taking photos with family members, the photo album will intelligently identify the content, generate time story cards based on different scenes, and create exclusive photo movies for you. Open the time album, just like the time shuttle, to evoke every wonderful memory of you.
Photo preference
With this feature preferably similar photos can be identified at a glance. When multiple photos are selected, the system will intelligently analyze the photo quality, composition, aesthetics and other dimensions through the AI algorithm, and optimize the best one of the similar photos and mark them to help you solve the problem of difficult photo selection, and also share it quickly with others.
Family guard
MIUI 11 is here to guard your children and the elderly. It is here to care a little more for your loved ones. It lets you track the live location of your family members as well as set time restraints on app usage. To do this, you must activate the Family Guardian on both you and your family member’s smartphones. As a result, the administrator accesses the GPS gadget data and can see at any time where the child or parent (and possibly the spouse) is located. The data is obtained in real time. There are different features included in family guard to protect your family.
Children’s space
Create your Children’s digital paradise. In MIUI’s new children’s space, we provide quality early childhood content and are committed to creating a fun-filled world for children to explore safely, happily and freely. MIUI 11’s Children’s Space will feature several high-quality educational and entertainment apps designed for kids. Parents will be able to customize app access and duration of use. According to Xiaomi, the Children’s Space will be completely separated from the parent’s own space. With children’s space, your child can use your Xiaomi phone without any restrictions, and you can rest assured.
Screen time management
Use your phone healthily. Start by knowing the actual time you spend on your phone everyday. In the screen time management, you can check the mobile phone and the duration of each app, the number of times the phone is unlocked, etc. And you can customize the available time for the apps to help you control your smartphone usage and in turn curbing down your addiction may be.
Earthquake warning
As the name suggests. it gives early warning of earthquakes, advance notice of distress. When a strong earthquake occurs in the surrounding area, the mobile phone will be alerted a few seconds to several tens of seconds in advance, and will be notified by a strong prompt pop-up window and an alarm sound. When in any emergency, press the power button five times in a row, the system will send a help message with location information to the contact you added, and automatically call the help phone.

- Quick Reply: Chat with friends when using any app. The quick reply feature now supports more scenarios. It is easy to reply to chat messages while doing other stuffs.
- Themes: We have a large collection of resources to make your phone look unique. The 10,000-set of themes is now free, thanks to all users for their continued support. Xiaomi theme store will continue to launch more quality themes.
- Auto-fill Password: You can store password on your device and use them whenever you need. Select an account and log in directly. Tap it, choose an app account, autofill passwords, and use it in a variety of applications. It can be easily accessed. Xiaomi will encrypt the account password information and will only exist on your mobile phone. Even Xiaomi can’t see it.
- Security: The “Security Center” has been upgraded to a new look and provides you with more comprehensive system-level services.
