BlackBerry’s New Agreement To Licence Its Brand For Gadgets Like Tablets, Wearables, Smartphones And Much More: BlackBerry, as we all know, was once a prominent smartphone company in the world. It was more famous among consumers for its keypad-equipped models. Now BlackBerry is again coming in the market of smartphones and other devices with its licensing partners.
BlackBerry has announced on Friday that BlackBerry –branded tablets, wearables medical devices, appliances, and other smartphones soon may be available after the new agreements with licensing partners.
BlackBerry-branded wearables and appliances may come soon
These devices will be made by the licensing partners of the company having brand name BlackBerry. So we can say opportunities for gadgets under the name of BlackBerry will be rise. Now the company provides the end-to-end security and software for the smartphones that will be built by its partner. So the name BlackBerry will be present on the new smartphones in spite the fact that it will not anymore produce its own hardware.
BlackBerry CEO John Chen said on Friday that “we have taken a long-term and thoughtful approach to our licensing strategy, which includes an expansive view of the entire Enterprises of Things ecosystem”. He also added, “as part of this strategy, we will work with a wide range of manufacturers to integrate BlackBerry Secure software into both BlackBerry branded and co-branded devices.”
Before this licensing agreement, BlackBerry has given the global rights to TCL in September 2016 under the licensing strategy to manufacture smartphones under the BlackBerry name. TCL already manufacture its recent smartphones DTEK50 and DTEK60 under the brand name BlackBerry. The upcoming such smartphone, the BlackBerry KeyOne rumored to launch in May this year.
