Apple Overtakes The Samsung In Worldwide Smartphone Market: According to a report of research outfit strategy analytics, Apple overtook Samsung to become the world’s number one smartphone vendor in the fourth quarter of 2016. Apple successfully shipped around 800,000 more units than Samsung. Apple shipped 78.3 million smartphones worldwide during the fourth quarter of 2016. So with this figure, Apple shares 18 percent of the total shipment of all smartphones worldwide.
Apple Is Leading Samsung In Smartphone Market:
All over the world total, 438.7 million smartphones were shipped in the fourth quarter of 2016. With the shipment of 78.3 million Apple’s iPhone, Samsung falls back into second place with the sale of 77.5 million of smartphones worldwide in Q4 2016. In Q4 2015, Apple shipped 74.8 million smartphones so in Q4 2016 Apple rises by 5 percent. It is the iPhone’s best performance in terms of shipment. While Samsung’s shipment is dropped from 81.3 million units in Q4 2015 to 77.5 million units in Q4 2016.
With the popularity of Apple’s last release iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple is sharing 17.8 percent of the worldwide smartphone market. Apart from Q4 results, in annualized report Samsung has shipped 309 million units of smartphone and able to maintain its first position in annualized figure. While Apple has shipped 215 million units.
So it is all about the first and second position, after that Huawei’s impressive worldwide performance successfully helped it to have the third position in global smartphone market with the share of 10 percent in Q4 2016 while its rival OPPO earned the fourth position with the 7 percent global smartphone market share followed by Vivo which claims six percent share. This research comes one day after Apple release its Q1 2017 financial result.
