When everyone in the smartphone industry was busy in showcasing there concept devices like OnePlus came up with its concept device named ‘OnePlus Concept One‘ but Samsung was planning something else as they secretly introduced a new device in their rugged device series named ‘Galaxy XCover Pro’ lets have a deeper look at this rugged demon from Samsung.
Features of XCover Pro
Samsung XCover Pro is a new iteration in the series of rugged device that is made exclusive for military personnel and available in United States only. The previous version of XCover series was named as ‘Xcover 4’ that was launched back in summers of 2017 and featured a 5 inches IPS LCD display and was powered by an Exynos 7570 processor that came as a result of in house production of chipset by Samsung and it was powered by an quad core structure.
While Samsung XCover Pro is also houses an Exynos chipset i.e. Exynos 9611 which is a octa core to give the users a smooth experience. XCover Pro also comes with an IPS LCD display but the difference here is that it gives the user a hand-on experience over a display size of 6.3″ inches and comes with a aspect ratio of 20:9 with a small punch hole in the top left corner of the display that packs a 13MP snapper.
It also spots an dual rear camera setup where the primary shooter is a 25MP Wide angle sensor that captures objects that comes under a field of view of 80 degree while the secondary camera uses a 8MP Ultra-Wide sensor that is capable of capturing scenes upto a field of view of 123 degrees. You all must be wondering that why Samsung is using a dual camera setup while the whole world has switched to quad camera setup or even penta camers like Mi CC9 Pro, then you must keep in mind that XCover Pro is made for military personnel and not normal audience and they don’t require quad or penta camers their only requirement is durability of devices.
Talking about durability XCover Pro comes with IPX 68 water and dust resistance certification and comes pre certified with US military standard certification (MIL-STD-810) that itself describes durability of this rugged demon.
XCover Pro is powered by a massive 4050 mAh battery and promises to last almost 2 days on modrate usage and also comes with a 15W charging adaptor that will juice up the device at a faster speed a compared to other rugged devices. It spots only one variant that houses 4GB of RAM and 64GB ROM that ensures smooth experience to users.
It also gives users the freedom to program two buttons according to their requirements and it comes with a fingerprint scanner mounted on power button. Buttons can be programmed to perform various tasks like turning on flashlight or recoding audio message and converting them into text message and send them to you emergency contacts and some more functionality to choose from.
The security department is handled by Samsung Knox and it comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box and is supposed to updated to Android 10 later this year.
XCover Pro is expected to enter European smartphone market around February 2020 with a price tag of €500 (~$556).
