Microsoft next-gen. console Xbox Project “Scarlett” is set to release next year but speculation about it never gonna end, as Xbox is holding an event at X019, where they gonna show some peaks and update about their next-gen. console.
Recently, Xbox head Phil Spencer sat down with Eurogamer discussing their future acquisitions to Project Scarlett. Microsoft currently holds many studios for its own games production like Xbox exclusives Gears of War franchise or Age of Empires franchise and various other so that they can make a more dominating position in the console market.
During the interview, Phil tells us interesting news about upcoming Gears 5. Despite the fact that it’s been available on Xbox Game Pass, it sold more than Gears of War 4. This can be attributed to the fact that it’s available on Steam, but it’s still surprising. Maybe gamers view Xbox Game Pass as a great way to try games and then buy the ones they really like.
At X019, it has been expected that Microsoft could announce some acquisitions, but it turns out to be nothing. This time Microsoft makes it true and its current subsidiaries to produce some new content for Xbox next console. Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty said that the company was focusing on games at this moment on stage, but Spencer revealed that he’s interested in adding Asian studios to the mix.
It has been expected that Microsoft is trying to add a big studio rather than putting their efforts on small ones. Microsoft isn’t done with the studio acquisitions, but it’s looking for more diverse teams going forward. Hopefully, Spencer will snag some Japanese developers like FromSoftware or PlatinumGames.
Microsoft hinted their Project Scarlett in E3 2019, and it is expected that devkits have gone out and studios were working to bring some new content to Xbox’s “Project Scarlett”. We still not able to get any confirmed leaks about the hardware of next-gen. console. But it has been rumored the make their experience far better than today.
