Apple iPhone X is finally here and Apple showed many revolutions as compared to first iPhone and another smartphone in the industry. Apple finally showed their 10th iPhone which changes all the fundamental of smartphone from design to unlock the phone. Apple introduces FaceID which uses much industry leading technology to detect you however you look.
iPhone X’s FaceID uses lots of sensors to capture your face from each point of detail so it can identify only you, some might think this feature is nothing more than the gimmick but Apple doesn’t think so as they showed their courage to remove TouchID or Home which is the fundamental aesthetic of iPhone. While in the hands of many people has tried FaceID first time and it is really a convenient method to unlock your phone, Apple showed some stats about the FaceID v/s TouchID, TouchID have success rate to identify biometrics is about 1:50,000 while talking about FaceID it is about 1:1,000,000 which shows great difference between them.
Apple also made some convenient changes toward iPhone so that user will face iPhone as an iPhone, they made some gesture based UI so that they conquer Home Button you can active Siri from Power button and there are lots of adjustments made to make the replacement for TouchID. Apps which use TouchID now can easily use FaceID without any adjustment
FaceID can recognize people anywhere and anytime it uses Machine Learning to adapt to your face style so if your wear spectacles or wear cap FaceID can recognize you perfectly. It uses Dot Projector to capture your face as it throws around 30,000 dots so each detail of your face is captured, for capturing in the night it uses Flood Illuminator so that in which light condition you are it can easily capture your face. All these data then captured by an Infrared camera which help your smartphone to capture your Face then all these data transferred to Apple Custom made A11 Bionic Chipset which then identified it’s you and your phone is unlocked. All your FaceID data is stored into device chipset with secure enclave and data is not shared by Apple.
During initial hands on iPhone X FaceID successfully detects human face but we have to see how this biometric outpaced TouchID hope this new feature showed some success. While talking other essential feature like Apple Pay and App Store Purchases you can use FaceID for that.
